LEBAK - A 120-meter suspension bridge connecting Leuwidamar and Bojongmanik Districts, Lebak Regency, collapsed on Thursday (11/14). The community in the area is isolated.

"The cause of the bridge collapse was due to age," said the Head of Parakan Besi Village, Bojongmanik District, Lebak Regency, Pulung, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 15.

The community in the two districts is now isolated due to the collapse of the suspension bridge, which has had an impact on the local economy.

The suspension bridge located in Parakanbeusi Village, Bojongmanik District, which connects Leuwidamar District, Lebak Regency, is crossed by thousands of people per day.

Currently, people who want to travel outside the area, such as to the district office and Rangkasbitung, are forced to make a detour, and quite far.

However, most of the local people are forced to cross the river, even though their clothes are wet.

"We have reported the collapse of the suspension bridge to the Bojongmanik District Office to be immediately reported to the Lebak Regency Government," he explained.

Head of the Public Order Section of Bojongmanik District, Lebak Regency, Martin, said that the collapse of the suspension bridge was due to the breaking of the rope that had been used for a long time and was very old, so that it could not support the load.

In addition, the condition of the soil was very fragile because the rainfall in the area was quite high.

Fortunately, the collapse of the bridge did not cause any fatalities or injuries.

"We have reported it to the Lebak Regency Government so that the suspension bridge can be repaired again, which is very vital for the community's economy," he said.

Meanwhile, Rudi, a resident of Bojongmanik District, Lebak Regency, hopes that the collapsed suspension bridge will be repaired immediately so that community activities can return to normal for economic activities and school children.

"We are now forcing ourselves to jump into the river until our clothes are wet after the suspension bridge collapsed," he said.
