Muhaimin's Joke Is Scolded By His Wife: What's The Point Of Being A Minister If Online Gambling Can't Be Overcome
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment (Menko PM) Muhaimin Iskandar joked that his wife often scolded him because he had not been able to eradicate gambling in Indonesia as long as he served as minister.
"When I came home from work, my wife was angry, 'What's the point of you becoming a minister if online gambling can't be overcome'," he said after visiting a gambling addiction rehabilitation patient at the Cipto Mangunkusumo National Central General Hospital (RSCM) Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 15.
Cak Imin, as he is familiarly called, expressed such satire made him continue to think about how to eradicate gambling from the country.
He assessed that online gambling is a national-scale social disaster, where mutual cooperation and work together all parties are important to do in tackling this.
"I invite all parties, let's work together to overcome this and the President, Pak Prabowo mandates me and all cabinet members to work together to overcome this gamblingline problem," he said.
Therefore, Coordinating Minister Muhaimin emphasized that his party is committed to suppressing and resolving gambling problems through coordination with various relevant ministries and institutions.
However, he also hopes that the same commitment is realized by all parties, including the government, community leaders, campuses, religious leaders, educational institutions, community leaders, and the people in general so that problems related to Indonesian gambling can be resolved properly and quickly.
"This international disaster is really national, the national damage that we must overcome together. So, it's not just the responsibility as a minister," said Muhaimin.
It is known, as many as 8.8 million Indonesians have become victims or perpetrators of online gambling, of which as much as Rp900 trillion flows abroad every year because of this.
