Prabowo Conveys Indonesia's Determination To Downstream Resources

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto expressed Indonesia's determination in downstreaming resources, when speaking at the 2024 APEC CEO Summit forum in Peru, Thursday (14/11) local time.

"We have 26 commodities that we are determined to have in the processing industry," Prabowo explained as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, November 15.

Prabowo said, based on calculations, Indonesia needed an investment of 600 billion US dollars to carry out this downstreaming. Indonesia invites foreign participants to come and take part in this.

"And many companies have been involved in our economy for years," Prabowo said.

The Head of State said that Indonesia had succeeded in implementing careful economic and fiscal policies in recent years.

Indonesia was able to maintain growth even after the COVID-19 pandemic, with the current national growth rate of around 5 percent, or higher than the global average.

"Our inflation is at 2 percent," he explained.

Indonesia, said the President, has also built several Special Economic Zones, which will continue to be added, in order to invite the entry of modern and advanced leading technology.

Indonesia is also optimistic about the maritime and fishery industries they have, where three-quarters of Indonesia's territory is the waters.

"Indonesia has extraordinary potential, say, in well-planned fisheries programs, aquaculture, and many processing industries," he explained.

Prabowo realizes that Indonesia still has several challenges, such as the reduction in poverty and the reduction in the number of malnutrition. Prabowo Subianto emphasized his determination to overcome these challenges directly.
