DPR Will Hold Capim Feasibility Test, Puan Hopes KPK Performance Increases

JAKARTA - The DPR will carry out a fit and proper test of the leadership candidate (Capim) and the Prospective Supervisory Board (Dewas) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the period 2024-2029.

Related to this, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, chaired a meeting to prepare for the implementation of the fit and proper test for the KPK Capim and the KPK Dewas Candidate as a follow-up to the Government's request.

The consultation meeting between the leadership of the DPR and the leadership of Commission III of the DPR was held behind closed doors at the DPR building, Friday, November 15.

Later, the fit and proper test of the KPK Capim and the KPK Dewas Candidate will be organized by Commission III as KPK partners.

"We just held a consultation meeting between the leadership of the DPR RI and the relevant leadership of Commission III to prepare for the fit and proper test of the KPK Capim and the KPK Prospective Council for the period 2024-2029," said Puan after the meeting.

This preparation meeting was also attended by Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, and Adies Kadir. Chairman of Commission III of the DPR Habiburokhman also attended this consultation meeting.

Based on the rules, the DPR is tasked with conducting a fit and proper test for prospective KPK leaders and candidates for the KPK Council sent by the Government.

"The DPR has received the Surpres regarding the names of candidates for KPK leadership and candidates for the KPK Council which were read out at the plenary meeting on November 12," said Puan.

Puan said this meeting was held as a follow-up to the presidential letter (Surpres) number R60/PRES/11/2024 dated November 4, 2024.

Today's meeting follows up on the Surpres regarding the KPK's Capim and the KPK Dewas candidates. According to the mechanism, the leadership of the DPR RI assigned Commission III to carry out a fit and proper test process from the names that had been screened by the KPK's Pansel," continued Puan.

Puan hopes that the fit and proper test process for the KPK Capim and the KPK Dewas Candidate will run smoothly. She reminded that whoever is elected as the KPK leader must be able to improve the performance of his institution.

"And we hope that later whoever is elected as the leader of the KPK and the KPK Council must be able to improve the performance of the institution," said Puan.

It is known, President Prabowo Subianto decided not to re-examine the names of the candidates and candidates for the KPK Supervisory Board who had been sent by the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Thus, as many as 20 candidates for leadership and candidates for the KPK Council will take the last test at the DPR.
