Supporting Local Industrial Products Go International, Saraswati: MSMEs For Indonesian Economic Heroes

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission VII DPR RI, Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo fully supports the progress of Indonesia's micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). He emphasized that MSMEs are one of the drivers of the people's economy.

"The Small and Medium Industry and MSMEs are the economic pulses of the Indonesian people in general. They can also create jobs for the surrounding areas," said Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo, Thursday, November 14.

For women who are familiarly called Sara, the role of small and medium and MSME industries is very important in advancing the local and national economy.

"MSMEs can be called heroes because they open the door of hope to get out of poverty. That is why MSMEs are called the pillars of the Indonesian economy," said the legislator from the DKI Jakarta III electoral district.

According to Sara, one way to support small industries or MSMEs is to buy local products. This was shown by Sara when leading a specific working visit (Kunker) of Commission VII DPR RI to South Kalimantan with the Director General of Small, Medium, and Multifarious Industries (IKM) of the Ministry of Industry on Wednesday (13/11) yesterday.

Sara visited the Banjarbaru Dekranasda, which is the place where local South Kalimantan products are sold. Samsirangan fabrics and woven crafts are in the spotlight of Sara because these products not only preserve local culture but also drive the regional economy.

"MSME actors in the regions need to be given further support in order to survive and continue to develop in the midst of the dynamics of the national economy. Because it is not only for economic driving but also for cultural conservation," explained Sara.

The leadership of the Commission in the DPR in charge of the industrial sector, MSMEs, and Creative Economy also encourages Indonesian consumers to support the sale of products made by local people's hands. By buying local products, according to Sara, this can help MSMEs to be more advanced.

"Actually, it is dangerous for all who visit the wallet, but this is a form of'shopping' that is justified because it drives our local economy," he said jokingly.

Furthermore, Sara asked all Regional Governments to pay more attention to MSMEs in their respective regions, including the provision of strategic and appropriate selling places.

Support for MSMEs is expected to help local business actors so that their products can be increasingly recognized, both at home and abroad.

"One example is the wovenness and sasirangan of South Kalimantan, we must support it to be able to go international!" he said.

"We hope that this will trigger an increase in production and sales of local products, as well as be an inspiration for the central and regional governments in supporting MSMEs in various parts of Indonesia," concluded Sara.
