Volcanic Dust Of Mount Lewotobi Decreases, Domestic And International Flights To Bali Return To Normal

BADUNG - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) through the Class I Ngurah Rai Meteorological Station in Badung Regency, Bali, revealed that there was no volcanic dust of Mount Lewotobi Laki in the air area of the Island of the Gods on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

"Based on satellite imagery, there is no spread of volcanic ash in the Bali area," said Ngurah Rai Class I Meteorological Station Data and Information Coordinator Pande Putu Hadi Wiguna in Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Thursday afternoon.

To confirm the image data of the Himawari weather satellite, his party conducted a test using black paper (paper test) around the air area of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport at 06.00 WITA.

The result, he continued, was negative for volcanic ash or in accordance with the mapping of the satellite's image.

Meanwhile, flight activities at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport are still running normally.

The schedule for international arrivals this Thursday at 08.40 WITA, Air Asia airline from Perth, Australia, the western part landed at Ngurah Rai Airport. Likewise, flights departing for Hong Kong also took off at 08.15 WITA.

Previously, although the BMKG said there was no volcanic ash in Bali's airspace on Wednesday (13/11), a number of airlines canceled their flight schedules for both domestic and international routes, due to the impact of the volcanic eruption dust in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Based on data from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Wednesday (13/11) there were 90 domestic and international flights canceled by airlines. In detail, 26 domestic flights and 64 international flights were affected.
