Meeting The US Defense Minister, Prabowo Encourages The Settlement Of The Conflict Between Gaza And The South China Sea
JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin discussed a number of global strategic issues, including conflicts in Gaza and tensions in the South China Sea, Wednesday, November 13.
"Yes, we discussed that," said President Prabowo after his second meeting in Washington, DC, followed by the Ministry of State Secretariat's network (online) in Jakarta, Thursday, November 14.
Regarding the conflict in Gaza, the President of the Republic of Indonesia views it as important to find a peaceful solution by approaching a two-state solution as the best way to resolve tensions between Palestine and Israel.
"I still suggest a two-state solution, in fact they also agree," he said.
President Prabowo also expressed his hope that a ceasefire could soon be reached to end the long-running violence in the region.
Regarding the topic of the South China Sea, the Head of State emphasized that Indonesia is committed to safeguarding state sovereignty and wants to cooperate with all parties.
"We discuss the South China Sea. I say, we want to cooperate with all parties. We respect all strengths, but we will also maintain our sovereignty," he said.
President Prabowo emphasized the importance of collaboration and international cooperation to maintain peace and avoid confrontation that could worsen the situation.

Prabowo also emphasized that building mutual trust and mutual respect between countries is needed to create harmonious relationships in the local area.
"There must be efforts to build mutual trust, mutual respect. So, we choose to maintain good relations with all parties," said President Prabowo.
