Weather Thursday 14 November: Beware Of Rain And Lightning In Big Cities In Indonesia
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued a weather forecast for major cities in Indonesia, on Thursday, November 14.
The BMKG asked the public to be aware of the potential for light to heavy rain accompanied by lightning to flush the majority of major cities in the country today.
BMKG forecaster Eriska explained that the potential for light rain is predicted to flush Pekanbaru, Medan, Tanjung Pinang, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, Jakarta, Denpasar, Tanjung Selor, Pontianak, Palangka Raya, Samarinda, Gorontalo, Palu, Kendari, Makassar, Ternate, Sorong, Nabire, Manokwari, and Jayawijaya.
In the BMKG weather forecast, it is also stated that the potential for moderate rain or rainfall of more than 4.0 mm per hour with temperatures ranging from 24-31 celsius is predicted to flush Serang City in Banten.
Meanwhile, the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to flush the cities of Padang, Bengkulu, Palembang, Mataram, Banjarmasin, Manado, Mamuju, and Merauke.
The cities of Banda Aceh, Lampung, Jayapura, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Ambon, are predicted to be cloudy and or foggy throughout the day with temperatures ranging from 25-30 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the cities of Yogyakarta and Kupang are forecasted to be cloudy.
Eriska also revealed tropical cyclone Toraji, which is in the South China Sea and Typhoon Usagi in the Philippine Sea, is increasing wind speed in the area it crosses.

Then the cyclonic circulation was also observed in the Indian Ocean west of North Sumatra, forming an area of wind deceleration that extends from Aceh to West Sumatra, then from Jambi to the western waters of Bengkulu and Lampung. This condition is able to cause rainy clouds along the area.
The weather forecast issued by BMKG also states that the surface wind in Indonesia is generally dominated by winds blowing from the east and northeastern at a speed of 10-30 kilometers per hour. The sea wave height is generally 0.5-2.5 meters. The air temperature is generally 16-35 degrees Celsius with 46-100% humidity.
