BP2MI Failed The Departure Of Dozens Of Illegal CPMIs At Lombok Airport

LOMBOK - The Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) noted that it had thwarted the departure of dozens of illegal Indonesian Migrant Workers Candidates (CPMI) for Malaysia in the period January to October 2024 at Lombok International Airport.

"The total number of illegal CPMIs that have been thwarted from leaving is 14 people to date," said the Introductory Officer at BP2MI NTB Muzan Hilmiadi as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, November 14.

He said the CPMIs were secured with the Mataram Immigration Office because they did not have complete documents, such as BPJS Ketenagakerjaan cards, Pre-Employment Cards, and other documents.

"The point is that the documents brought by the CPMI are incomplete when departing directly abroad or destination countries," he said.

Based on information from the alleged illegal CPMIs, he said, they received work information from social media and from employers or companies in their destination countries they were given a work visa.

"They have a passport and work visa, but do not have work protection documents," he said.

He said the action was one of the efforts to prevent the delivery of illegal CPMIs, because Lombok Airport is one of the exits to CPMI shipments.

However, he continued, if there are CPMIs departing via domestic flights, they can be prevented from flying at the next airport. "This means that if there are residents who leave the country, they must attach complete documents," he said.

He appealed to people who want to work abroad to go officially, to get protection for safety guarantees both at departure and after working in destination countries.

"Departing as PMI must be legal, in order to get protection from the government," he said.

In anticipating the departure of the CPMI by departing indirectly to destination countries or using domestic flights, his party does not have much evidence to take precautions.

"CPMI delivery with domestic flight mode at Lombok Airport cannot be prevented, because they only show ID cards and tickets to be able to fly to Jakarta," he said.
