Prabowo Accepts Uncle Birin's Resignation As Governor Of South Kalimantan
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto has received Sahbirin Noor's resignation letter (Uncle Birin) as Governor of South Kalimantan (Kalsel) in the remaining second term of office or 2021-2024.
This was conveyed by the Head of the Presidential Communication Office Hasan Nasbi, Wednesday, November 13.
"Soft copies of his resignation letter to the President also copied to the Minister of Home Affairs have been received," Hasan Nasbi said as quoted by ANTARA.
Regarding the physical letter from Sahbirin Noor's resignation application, Hasan said, it is still in the process of traveling to Jakarta.
Meanwhile, Sahbirin's resignation letter addressed to President Prabowo was made in Banjarbaru on Tuesday (12/11).
In his letter, the man who is familiarly called Uncle Birin decided to resign from office starting November 13, 2024, on the grounds to keep the administration of the government in South Kalimantan Province conducive.
"Together with this letter, as of November 13, 2024, I declare my resignation from the position of Governor of South Kalimantan for the term of office 2021-2024 in accordance with Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 105/P of 2021 concerning the Dismissal of Acting Governor of South Kalimantan and Ratification of the Appointment of Governor and Deputy Governor of South Kalimantan, which I do to maintain the conduciveness of government administration in South Kalimantan Province," the letter said.
The letter was copied to the Minister of State Secretary, Minister of Home Affairs, Chairman of the South Kalimantan Provincial DPRD, and Regional Secretary of South Kalimantan Province.
As previously reported, Sahbirin Noor announced his resignation on Wednesday (8/11), after serving for eight years.
In the event at the Idham Chalid Building, Sahbirin accompanied by his wife and officials of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government, apologized for all the mistakes during his tenure.
He also recalled the cooperation in the development of Banua and hoped that the government and development in South Kalimantan would continue smoothly with the appointed governor.
Separately, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Bima Arya said that his party had prepared a replacement governor official Sahbirin Noor as a follow-up to the resignation letter.
"We will immediately appoint temporary officials," he said.
