Members Of The House Of Representatives Proposes Development Of Industrial, Processing And Transportation Facilities In Kaltara

Member of Commission VII DPR Rahmawati conveyed several important issues related to the development of industry, transportation, strengthening the fisheries and marine sectors in the North Kalimantan (Kaltara) region.

This was conveyed by Rahmawati during a working meeting with the Ministry of Industry at the DPR building, Jakarta. Tuesday, November 12.

This member of the DPR for the Kaltara electoral district proposed to the Ministry of Industry that the Industrial Education and Training Agency (BDI) not only provide training and certification to the workforce. However, it needs to be strengthened with partnerships with local industries.

"I propose that BDI directly distribute its training graduates to industrial companies in the regions, including in Kaltara. So that it helps improve the regional economy and opens more jobs," said Rahmawati.

He also emphasized the importance of attention to the high cost of transportation of basic commodities from Java to Kaltara. This is because the high cost of transportation makes the price of basic necessities in Kaltara so expensive that it burdens the local community.

"I ask that the government provides special dispensation or subsidies for transportation of basic commodities for areas with high distribution costs, such as North Kalimantan," he said.

In addition, Rahmawati also highlighted the potential development of the seaweed and fishery processing industry in Kaltara by encouraging the Ministry of Industry to develop seaweed dryer factories and large cold storage facilities in the region.

"Currently, seaweed, shrimp and fish products from North Kalimantan must be sent to Surabaya or Makassar before being exported. With processing facilities in North Kalimantan, we can directly export, which will save logistics costs and speed up the delivery process," he said.

Rahmawati explained that the development of this facility will not only increase the competitiveness of local products. However, it also opens up new investment opportunities and jobs for the local community.

"I hope the Ministry of Industry can provide full support in realizing the development of this facility. So that our natural resource potential can be managed optimally and provide maximum benefits for the regional economy," he said.
