Having Dinner with US Secretary of State, Prabowo Asks for Solution to Palestine
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto asked the United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken about Palestine.
This moment occurred after the two had dinner at the American Foreign Service Association, Washington DC, Monday, November 11 evening.
"What about Palestine? Can you find a solution to this problem," asked Prabowo as quoted from his written statement, Wednesday, November 13.
"We are currently working hard on the problems there," replied Blinken.
Prabowo was warmly welcomed by Blinken during the dinner. He was waited for in front of the lobby of the American Foreign Service Association building.
Prabowo, who came wearing a suit and a black cap, was immediately greeted by Blinken. "Welcome, Mr. President," said Blinken to Prabowo while shaking his hand.
"Thank you very much," returned Prabowo's greeting to Blinken.
Blinken said this moment was important for the United States. Prabowo is expected to enjoy his visit to Uncle Sam's country.
“It’s a great pleasure to meet you in the United States. I hope you enjoy your visit. And I just want to say at the outset that we deeply value this relationship, a long-standing relationship, with our countries for 75 years,” Blinken told Prabowo.
Blinken also said that Prabowo’s visit was very beneficial for the decades-long relationship between the United States and Indonesia.
“But I think it’s very beneficial that you’re here, just inaugurated, celebrating 75 years of relations between our two countries. And this is a wonderful way to start the next 75 years. Moreover, you’re visiting at this crucial moment,” Blinken continued.
At the end of the dinner, Blinken also conveyed a warm message to Prabowo. “I hope you enjoy your meal tonight. I look forward to talking to you. Thank you for coming,” Blinken concluded.
