Nusron Wahid Says 564,957 Hectares Of Abandoned Land Can Be Used For Transmigration Programs
JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid said, there is abandoned land covering an area of 564,957 hectares (ha) spread across provinces that have the potential to be used for the transmigration program.
This was conveyed by Nusron when receiving a visit from the Minister of Transmigration M. Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara at the Office of the Ministry of ATR/BPN, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 12.
"With the transmigration program, in the future these abandoned lands have high economic value. So, it is beneficial for the benefit of the nation and state. This is exactly what is expected and mandated by the 1945 Constitution Article 33 that the earth, water, air and all its contents controlled by the state are used as much as the people's prosperity," said Nusron as quoted from his written statement, Wednesday, November 13.
Both parties also agreed to take advantage of the abandoned land in order to make the transmigration program a success.
"We need cooperation with any institution that can take advantage of these abandoned lands so that they have economic value. Incidentally, today the use comes from transmigration. So the tit for tat, he has a program and will bring people to take advantage of the land," he said.
