BRI Boss Highlights The Impact Of Donald Trump's Economic Policy On Indonesia
JAKARTA - President Director of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI, Sunarso highlighted Donald Trump's re-elect as President of the United States (US).
According to him, Trump's protective policy will have a significant impact on the Indonesian economy.
He said the policy could be responded to by China's trade war.
If this is true, said Sunarso, Indonesia's economic growth is predicted to be restrained.
"That's why we also have to be careful if it turns out that America is protective and by China it will also be rewarded with a trade war like the previous one in the Donald Trump era, which is that the impact is quite significant on us," he said in the RDP with Commission VI in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 13.
"That will cause our economic growth to only be around 4.7 (percent) to 5.03 (percent)," he continued.
Sunarso explained that Indonesia's economic growth could be lower if not only China responded by protecting its trade.
"But if later other countries are busy responding to American protectionism, the impact will be even worse because it will estimate that our economic growth will only be 4.6 to 4.9. This is our analysis like this. So this is what we need to anticipate," he explained.

Based on data on Indonesia's relationship with China and the United States, continued Sunarso, Indonesia could be more affected by China's economic turmoil than the US.
Furthermore, Sunarso bilannh, the correlation index with China is 0.351, while with America it drops to 0.347.
"This means that every increase or decrease in growth in China has a significant effect on us than changes in the increase or decline in economic growth in America," he said.
