Minister Bahlil: Indonesia Starts Development Of Bioavtur
JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the government has begun to develop sustainable aircraft fuel (bioavtur) as part of efforts to transition energy to environmentally friendly resources.
Bahlil said President Prabowo Subianto had given strict directions so that Indonesia would immediately start the development of bioavtur to reduce dependence on imports of fossil fuels.
"The president ordered us to slowly start developing bioavtur because otherwise, other countries will build this bioavtur. The CPO is from us, the oil is in fact from us," said Bahlil as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 13.
Responding to the president's directive, Bahlil said, his party plans to implement a mandatory policy for Pertamina in the production of bioavtur.
This policy is considered important to encourage the acceleration of the development of bioavtur in the country.
"We plan to make this mandatory. Otherwise, we have to be prepared again to get imports, at the same time, the world is already talking about green energy," he said.
In addition to bioavtur development, Bahlil said that the government is currently accelerating the transition to the use of fuel oil (BBM) to biodiesel with higher levels of crude palm oil (CPO) mixture.

One of the main targets is to increase the mix of biodiesel from B35 to B40 by 2025, and the implementation of B50 by 2026.
Bahlil stated that by achieving the B50 target in 2026, Indonesia will further reduce its dependence on diesel imports. In fact, he said that by 2050, Indonesia is expected to completely stop importing diesel.
