Towards The End Of The Year, There Will Be A Substitute For Lebaran Holidays

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan said the ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet were calculating the possibility of providing a replacement Eid holiday, after there was no more spread of the COVID-19 corona virus in Indonesia.

President Joko Widodo recommended this holiday to replace Eid, so that residents do not go home during Eid al-Fitr.

"Regarding this holiday, it is being calculated," said Luhut in an online press conference broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube account, Thursday, April 2.

Even though there is no agreement yet, Luhut said, it is possible that this Eid replacement holiday will be held at the end of the year. "Maybe more will be given at the end of the year or something," he said.

As previously reported, President Joko Widodo suggested that people get a replacement holiday so they can go home to their hometowns after the end of the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia. It is hoped that this can be implemented so that the community does not force homecoming during the Lebaran Day.

"I see this for this homecoming in order to calm the public. Maybe an alternative to substituting a national holiday on another day for Hari Raya, this might be discussed," said Jokowi before chairing a limited meeting with ministers to discuss going home, Thursday, April 2.

In addition, Jokowi also suggested that tourist attractions can be made free after the spread of the corona virus ends and that people can take a vacation on these alternate holidays so that people can be calmer and do not travel back and forth amid the spread of the corona virus.
