Kumamoto Japan Masters 2024: Sabar/Reza Maintain Sweet Performance in Men's Doubles
JAKARTA – Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani have also qualified for the second round of the 2024 Kumamoto Japan Masters. This means that the four men's doubles in the first round of the tournament all went well.
Sabar/Reza recovered from their first game defeat against the Chinese Taipei pair, Chiang Chien-Wei/Wei Chun Wei, with a final score of 12-21, 21-16, and 21-10 on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
"In the first game we were indeed far behind, but thank God in the second and third games we managed to turn things around," said Sabar in a statement.
This victory paved the way for Sabar/Reza to get tickets to the season-ending BWF World Tour Finals tournament in December 2024 in Hangzhou, China.
The tournament will only be attended by the top eight badminton players in the Race to Finals. Currently, Sabar/Reza are in ninth place.

Sabar said that their chances of playing there were clearly open with two remaining tournaments, including the 2024 Kumamoto Japan Masters.
However, they did not want to make that target too much of a burden.
"We definitely want to qualify, but we don't want to be burdened. This is our motivation to give our best in every match. Hopefully we can get there," he said.
Sabar/Reza to the second round of the 2024 Kumamoto Japan Masters following in the footsteps of Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana, and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin.
In the second round, Sabar/Reza will face a tough test. Because, they will meet the sixth seed from Japan, Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi.
