Indonesian Basketball National Team Tests Against Malaysia And Singapore

JAKARTA The Indonesian Basketball national team will undergo a trial against Malaysia and Singapore as part of preparations for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup continued Window 2 Qualifiers match.

Currently, the squad made by coach Johannis Winar is still finalizing their preparations at the GBK Arena, Senayan, Jakarta. A number of trials against teams from IBL have also been carried out.

Johannis Winar said that his squad would finalize the game by undergoing two follow-up trials this week, each against Malaysia Select Team and the Singapore national team.

"From this trial, we want to see to what extent the player understands the system he wants to play."

"The problem is, our target is not in a match against Malaysia or against Singapore," he said in a statement.

The Indonesian Basketball national team is scheduled to play two important matches from Window 2 Group A FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualification this month.

The match began with facing South Korean hosts on November 21, 2024 at the Goyang Gymnasium and hosting Thailand at the Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta, on November 24, 2024.

Indonesia needs a win from the two matches to bring the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 chance of qualifying. The opportunity was quite tough, but the Garuda Troops were still chasing it.

"Therefore, I maximize this trial opportunity to try players. I want to see how far they understand the cooperation system in a team," said Winar.

Currently, the Garuda Squad is in fourth place in Group A standings. This position is occupied by Indonesia after losing the first two matches against Thailand and Australia.

In order to qualify for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup finals, Indonesia must end this qualification in the group's top two positions. If that is not achieved, Indonesia still has a chance.

With the condition that Winar's squad must be able to lock up third place to compete with third-placed teams from other groups to win the remaining four tickets.
