7 Drug Convicts Escape From Salemba Detention Cells Through Water Culverts
JAKARTA - A total of 7 inmates of the Class 1 State Detention Center (Rutan) of Central Jakarta or the Salemba Detention Center, Central Jakarta, escaped from the detention cell, Tuesday, November 12.
The perpetrators fled through the ventilation locked in the wind hole and crossed the sewers of the water channel.
"The seven detainees and convicts of the drug case are suspected of escaping by breaking into the room's tellis," said Head of the Class I Detention Center of Central Jakarta, Agung Nurbani, Tuesday, November 12.
Currently, the Salemba detention centers and the Ditjenpas as well as the police are pursuing the escaped prisoners and inmates.
"The Central Jakarta Detention Center together with the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) and the police continue to pursue 7 prisoners and escaped inmates," he said.
After the incident, the Salemba Rutan officers immediately checked the rooms and searched the detention area.
"We have also reported it to the Head of the Correctional Division of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights DKI Jakarta and the police," he said.
In addition, the Salemba Detention Center together with the Directorate General of Social Affairs will also cooperate with various parties to ensure public safety and security.
