Java Island Becomes A Favorite Tourist Destination For Domestic Tourists In 2025

JAKARTA - Java Island is predicted to be the favorite domestic tourist destination in 2025. This fact was quoted from a survey conducted by the manager of the Siteminder hotel management application with Kantar.

According to the results of a survey conducted in 2024 against 887 Indonesian tourists, 72 percent of domestic tourists chose Java Island as their favorite destination in 2025.

"In terms of domestic itself, Java is still the number 1 trend for Indonesian tourists," said Country Manager of Indonesia Siteminder Rio Ricardo in an taklimat event with the media crew as quoted by Antara.

Based on the "SiteMinder's Changing Traveller Report 2025", Kalimantan Island is the second favorite tourist destination for Indonesian tourists in 2025 after Java Island.

The survey results show that as many as 24 percent make Kalimantan Island their favorite tourist destination in 2025.

Meanwhile, Sumatra Island was chosen as a favorite tourist destination by 22 percent of Indonesian tourists who took part in the survey.

Although it is not referred to as one of the favorite tourist destinations for domestic tourists in the "SiteMinder's Changing Traveller Report 2025" survey, Bali Island is estimated to still be the choice of many tourists to spend the end of the 2024 holiday.

Rio estimates that the number of domestic tourists who choose to vacation in Bali during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays remains high.

"For this year, we predict that there will still be more standardization because the situation in Bali itself in December has been crowded from 2-3 months ago," said Riomeru, referring to the hotel and accommodation service booking.

"Actually, it's not visible in other cities, but because I have more frequent relationships in Bali, 1-2 months before December it's all full," he added.

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bali Province, Bali Island received 4.7 million foreign tourist visits from January to September 2024.

The number of foreign tourist visits increased by 20.9 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

In September 2024, Bali received 593,908 foreign tourist visits, the most from Australia (148,131 visits), followed by China (41,002 visits), India (40,422 visits), France (29,177 visits), and Malaysia (28,806 visits).
