Former Lecturer In Malaysia Accused Of Spreading Daesh Terrorism Teachings At His Home

JAKARTA - A former lecturer at a higher education institution (IPT) in Malaysia is accused of spreading the teachings of terrorism radicalism while holding an event at his home in Pulai, Johor Bahru.

In the trial of the case which was held today, the prosecutor charged the defendant Daud with instilling the ideology of the Daesh terrorist group when holding activities at his residence between September 3, 2023 and April 14, 2024.

Citing Bernama, the prosecutor's indictment was framed under Article 130G (a) of the Criminal Code, with a maximum prison sentence of up to 30 years and can be fined if found guilty

Defendant Daud was also charged with providing facilities to support terrorist acts by allowing his house to be used for this purpose on the same date.

Based on this, the defendant Daud was suspected of Article 130H (a) of the Criminal Code.

At the trial, the defendant Daud filed an exception or memorandum of objection. The panel of judges chaired by Muniandy then set a trial for the exception reading agenda to be held on December 11, 2024.
