Minors Become Sex Workers At Bintan Kepri Bar, Police Secure 2 Pimps
The Bintan Police in the Riau Islands (Kepri) revealed the alleged criminal case of trafficking in persons (TPPO) against minors who were employed as commercial sex workers (PSK).
"The disclosure of this case stems from public reports regarding suspicious activities in boarding houses around the bar, where meetings between men and women often occur alternately," said Head of Public Relations of the Bintan Police, Iptu Prasojo in Bintan, Tuesday, November 12, confiscated by Antara.
Prasojo explained that this case began with a public report that was forwarded by the investigation by the Joint Team of the North Bintan Criminal Investigation Unit and the Bintan Police Satreskrim to entertainment venues or bars in Angkringan Pasar Baru Tanjung Uban Selatan, Bintan Utara, Bintan Regency, on Thursday 7 November night.
The police found that there was an activity of employing minors as prostitutes in a bar.
The officers then arrested two suspects who played pimps with the initials PR and NH. Both are now being held at the Bintan Police Headquarters for further processing.
In addition, at the scene of the incident, officers also confiscated a number of evidences, including cash worth Rp. 1.8 million, one strand of clothing and one piece of pants, and one room key.
"We are committed to taking firm action against all forms of TIP crimes and continue to increase supervision of suspicious activities in the Bintan area," said Prasojo.
