The Indonesian Futsal National Team Is Given A Gold Target At The SEA Games And Asian Games

JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo, hopes that the Indonesian Futsal National Team can continue their achievements by winning gold medals at the SEA Games and Asian Games.

Indonesia has just come out as the winner of the 2024 AFF Futsal Cup after stopping Vietnam 2-0 in the final at the Hall Terminal, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, on Sunday, November 10, 2024, WIB night.

Dito said that this achievement shows the potential for futsal to talk more in other important arenas in the future, including in multi-branches.

"In the future, we must boost futsal and ensure that futsal achievements are getting higher in the world. In addition, futsal can contribute gold medals at the SEA Games and Asian Games. So, it is being prepared from now on," said the Minister of Youth and Sports.

This is Indonesia's second title in the Futsal AFF Cup after more than a decade of drought. One other title was previously obtained in the 2010 edition.

The success of winning the 2024 AFF Futsal Cup has made Indonesia's ranking increase rapidly from 28th to 24th in the world. As for Asia, the Garuda Squad sits in fifth place, behind Iran, Thailand, Japan, and Uzbekistan.

In addition to wanting achievements on the multi-branch stage, Dito also hopes that in the future the Indonesian Futsal National Team can improve the ranking.

"So, this is a ranking that I think is very proud and has the potential for how to increase again to smaller numbers," he said.

The closest SEA Games that will be faced by the Indonesian Futsal National Team in Thailand next year. In the event which was attended by Southeast Asian countries, Indonesia is still hunting for the first gold medal in the futsal branch.

Meanwhile, Indonesia still has preparations for approximately two years to face the next Asian Games at Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, in 2026.
