Prabowo's Agenda In The US Today: Holds A Meeting Of Usindo And Persuading Entrepreneurs To Invest

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto persuaded United States (US) companies to invest in Indonesia in a meeting with members of The United States-Indonesia Society (Usindo) in Washington DC, United States, Monday, November 11 local time.

During the meeting, Prabowo had a dialogue with a number of leaders of large US companies that had long invested in Indonesia, such as Freeport, Chevron, General Electric, Badminton, and other leading companies.

The President expressed his joy at the enthusiasm of US companies to continue investing in Indonesia so as to contribute to economic development.

"They are involved in the economy and development of Indonesia. They have been in Indonesia for a long time and they believe in the Indonesian economy, I also encourage them to continue investing in our development plan," Prabowo said in a press statement received, Tuesday, November 12.

The Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Rosan Roeslani, who was also present at the meeting, added that discussions aimed at encouraging US companies to invest in Indonesia went smoothly and productively.

President Prabowo, said Rosan, emphasized his attitude towards the corruption issue which he called cancer for the economy. There is no tolerance for corruption at all levels. This statement was welcomed by Usindo members.

"He said that if there was corruption or creating problems, direct contact with him, this was a positive message, clear. Their response was very much appreciated," said Rosan.

During the meeting, the issue of renewable energy also received special attention. Several large US energy companies expressed their interest in investing in Indonesia by bringing carbon and geothermal capture technology to support Indonesia's net zero emissions target.

Meanwhile, US Deputy Ambassador who also serves as adviser to Usindo Ted Osius expressed his appreciation for President Prabowo's openness and support in business.

He will also bring a number of US company leaders to Indonesia in early December.
