Contributing To Indonesia's Cultural Lifting, Fadli Zon Is Lined Up To Become A Care Figure For The 2024 Museum

The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadli Zon, received an award as a 'Tokoh Care Museum' at the Indonesia Museum Awards 2024 which was held at the National Library Auditorium, Jakarta, Sunday, November 10, 2024.

This award is given as an appreciation for its contribution in preserving and communicating the nation's cultural heritage.

The jury is led by Prof. Wiendu Nuryanti assessed that Fadli Zon had made significant contributions in the field of culture, especially through collections of high historical objects.

Among his personal collections are wayang nusantara, keris, rare books, stamps, and other historical objects.

In addition to collecting historically valuable objects, Fadli Zon is also known to actively initiate various cultural activities. He often holds feature exhibitions and filateli exhibitions. The figure, whose title is Datuk Bijo Dirajo Nan Kuning, is also known as a kris collector.

In the last 20 years, he has collected more than 1,000 keris, including his favorite heirloom, Pamor Junjung Drajat, which he always takes wherever he goes.

Fadli Zon also has a deep love for wayang. Since the 2000s, he has collected more than 8,000 wayangs from various regions in Indonesia, which makes him the MURI record holder for the category of the Most Wayang Nusantara collectors.

To appreciate wayang more, Fadli Zon wrote a book entitled Pesona Wayang Indonesia, which was launched on November 5. This book is an expression of his love for wayang, which has been recognized as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO.

In addition, Fadli Zon is also known as a prolific writer and art lover. He has written more than 30 books covering various topics, including politics, history, and poetry.

Not only that, he is also a film producer, one of which is the film Sang Patriot which was released in 2013, and has two music albums: White Sand and Time.

This award also adds to the length of MURI's record list achieved by Fadli Zon. Currently, he holds 11 MURI records, including as the most stamp and puppet collectors, as well as the owner of a private library with the most old newspaper collections.

"The jury Council has decided that this award was long before Fadli Zon was appointed as Minister of Culture," said Wiendu Nuryanti in a written statement received on Tuesday, November 12, responding to the assumption that the award was given because of the ministerial position that is now being held by Fadli Zon.

In his virtual remarks, Fadli Zon expressed his gratitude for this award. He stated that this award was not only for him, but also to encourage museums as centers of inclusive civilization and education, as well as strengthen the identity and cultural heritage of the nation.
