Doel Not Only Wants To Develop Betawi Culture: Sundanese Culture Can Appear On Car Free Day

JAKARTA - Candidate for Deputy Governor of Jakarta number 3, Rano Karno (Doel), admitted that he did not only want to develop Betawi culture if he won the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

Apart from Betawi culture, Doel will also carry out other cultural conservation programs such as Sundanese and Javanese. This was conveyed by Doel after receiving support from a group of Sundanese community associations.

"We have a big stage. For example, what? Car free day. We can (present) Sundanese culture to appear in car free day. For example, pencak silat or anything or anything, the angklung can. That is the authority, discretion from a regional leader," said Doel in Cipete Selatan, Cilandak, South Jakarta, Monday, November 11.

The former governor of Banten said that the population of Jakarta came from various tribes, ranging from Java with a population of 38 percent of the population, 27 percent of the Betawi community, and 15 percent of the Sundanese people.

"What does that mean? Jakarta's strength is a common force, it can't excel. Even though to be honest, I am a person born in Jakarta, I really want to present Betawi culture again," said Doel.

According to Doel, the aspirations of residents with Sundanese backgrounds that are conveyed to prospective leaders are also not different from the indigenous peoples of Jakarta. One of them, they also asked the government to help develop micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

To them, Doel revealed that he and cagub Pramono Anung would allocate capital assistance to MSMEs of up to Rp300 billion per year from the Jakarta APBD. This program, according to him, will be in line with the policies of the central government.

"That's why I said I'm grateful that we, the central government have whitened some assistance for farmers, for fishermen. That's reducing debt. So it means that this is the beginning. So what is our policy? As governors and deputy governors in a special city, maybe we have discretion for that," explained Doel.
