Deputy Minister Of Home Affairs: Prabowo's Support For Ahmad Luthfi-Gus Yasin Fulfills Normas

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Bima Arya Sugiarto assessed that President Prabowo Subianto's support for one of the pairs of candidates for governor and deputy governor in the 2024 Central Java (Central Java) Pilkada has met existing norms.

"Of course in detail and so there are norms that must be met, and we see that everything is in accordance with that," said Bima Arya as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 11.

This, he said, was as explained by the Head of the Presidential Communication Office Hasan Nasbi regarding the provisions that the President was allowed to participate in political campaign activities related to regional elections, especially in his position as chairman of political parties.

"I think everything has its rules, as stated by Mr. Hasan Nasbi that the President is allowed, especially as a party leader, right," he said.

Therefore, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs assessed that what Hasan Nasbi said regarding the President's permission to participate in the regional election campaign was proportional and explained everything.

Bima Arya also said that there were no rules in the Election Law that were violated if the President participated in campaign activities.

"There is a reference in the electoral law, the prohibition is if you make a decision that is detrimental. This is not a decision, this is a statement of support," he said.

He then turned it to the public if he considered that there was abuse of public facilities in the support provided by President Prabowo to one of the candidate pairs in the 2024 Central Java Pilkada.

"If there are other problems regarding facilities, I think it's just a matter of proving it. Is it using public facilities and others, yes, but in substance, I think this is support carried out as the general chairman of the party," he said.

Previously, the Head of the Presidential Communication Office Hasan Nasbi explained the provision that President Prabowo Subianto was allowed to participate in political campaign activities, in this case related to regional elections as long as they did not use state facilities during its implementation.

"The president and state officials may participate in the campaign, provided that they do not abuse office facilities to campaign, or campaign on weekdays without applying for leave," Hasan Nasbi said in a written message received in Jakarta.

Of course, as the party chairman, according to Hasan, Prabowo's position clearly supports regional head candidates who are recommended to advance in political contestation.
