Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Ensures Legal Process For TNI Soldiers Attack Residents In Deli Serdang

Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan ensured that the legal process for the case of clashes between TNI soldiers and a group of residents in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, continued.

Budi Gunawan explained that currently the situation at the location of the clashes in Cinta Adil Village, Biru-Blue District, Deli Serdang, has returned to conducive.

"The background that causes this is still under investigation by Pomdam I/Bukit Barisan together with the local police," said the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 11.

Budi explained that currently there are several soldiers of the Medan Artillery Battalion (Yonarmed) 2/Sumagan Islands who have been questioned by the Military Police of the Military Region (Pomdam) I/Bukit Barisan.

The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs also reiterated the statement by the Commander of the Military Region (Pangdam) I/Bukit Barisan Lt. Gen. Mochammad Hasan which ensured that the legal process for the case went transparent.

"Pangdam I/Bukit Barisan explained that the process was carried out transparently so that the public could oversee and follow the case and it would be guaranteed and it was confirmed that the perpetrators who were found guilty would be punished and sanctioned in accordance with applicable regulations," he said.

Meanwhile, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto explained the chronology of incidents of clashes between Yonarmed 2/KS soldiers and a group of people in Deli Serdang starting from a soldier's warning against members of a motorcycle gang.

"So, it was beginning with young people speeding on motorbikes being reprimanded by members for disturbing the community, disturbing the public, disturbing the order on the road," said the TNI Commander separately.

After the reprimand, then there was an argument and a mass fight broke out on Friday (8/11) last week.

As a result of the incident, a civilian man with the initials RAB (aged 62) died and eight civilians were injured. Of the eight people who were injured, three of them were victims of the wrong target.

From the TNI, a soldier with the initials M was reported injured.

"The eight injured victims (civil residents, ed) have been transferred from Sembiring Hospital to Putri Hijau Hospital for the best treatment until they recover," said Head of Information for Kodam I Bukit Barisan Colonel Inf. Doddy Yudha in Medan, Sunday (10/11).

Until now, the Military Police of Kodam I/Bukit Barisan have examined 33 soldiers of Yonarmed 2/KS related to their involvement in the incident.
