Gibran's Story Used To Write To The Minister Of Education But Was Not Discussed

JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka said that while still serving as Mayor of Solo, he had written to the minister regarding education issues, but received no response.

"This is a letter that I sent when I was still the mayor. I sent this letter to the Minister of Education, but yesterday I checked with the Regional Secretary and the Head of the Service in Solo. This letter has not received a response," said Gibran while giving directions at the Coordination Meeting for the Evaluation of Basic and Secondary Education in Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 11.

The vice president said in the letter, he revealed various problems related to education, ranging from zoning policies, the Merdeka Learning program, school supervision, to national exams.

However, the letter did not receive a response until now.

Gibran then gave his appreciation to the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu'ti, who was considered more responsive in dealing with these problems.

"But the current Minister is different. Yesterday, when we returned from Akmil, we immediately coordinated and we immediately clicked on this zoning problem," said the Vice President.

In his directive, the Vice President conveyed that the zoning program had a good purpose, but there were a number of obstacles faced, one of which was the unequal number of teachers in a number of regions.

"So, ladies and gentlemen, this zoning is a good program, but please later, ladies and gentlemen, during the coordination meeting, maybe we can provide input, because the number of our teachers is not evenly distributed," said Gibran.

Gibran said that although the zoning program has good goals, there are challenges in the form of uneven numbers of teachers in a number of areas.

Some areas experience excess teachers, while others experience shortcomings. This is homework for the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education to complete.

"So, zoning once again is a good program, but maybe it cannot be implemented in all regions," said the Vice President.
