6 Volcanoes Alert To Alert, TNI Commander Prepares Rapid Response Troops

TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto has prepared a disaster response force (PRCPB) at the military regional command level (kodam) to anticipate natural disasters, including six volcanoes in Indonesia, which are currently on alert status and alert.

Meanwhile, for the impact of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki in East Nusa Tenggara, the Commander said that the TNI had established a field kitchen and deployed medical personnel to help victims.

"So every Kodam will have a battalion that is ready for PRCPB and if there is a disaster in the area, the troops will move quickly," said the TNI Commander as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 11.

The Geological Disaster Volcanology and Mitigation Center (PVMBG) of the Geological Agency reports that as of today there are five firearms with alert status, and one with alert status. Five volcanoes whose status is on standby include Mount Awu (Sanihe Islands, North Sulawesi), Mount Ibu (Halmahera, Maluku), Gunung Iya (Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara).

Then Mount Marapi (Tanah Datar Regency and Agam Regency, West Sumatra), and Mount Merapi (Central Java and Yogyakarta), while one volcano with alert status is Mount Lewotobi Laki in East Nusa Tenggara.

Mount Lewotobi erupted several times since last week, causing 12,200 residents to flee, nine people died, and three people were injured.

The status of the volcano in Indonesia is divided into four categories, namely normal with a green code which means there is no change in volcanic and seismic activity.

Then be alert to the yellow code which means there is an increase in seismic activity and volcanic activity begins to emerge.

Furthermore, standby with the orange code, which means there is an increase in seismic activity and an increase in volcanic activity, then the status is alert with a red code, which means that a volcano may erupt.
