KPU Opens Voice About Prabowo Supporting Ahmad Luthfi In Central Java Gubernatorial Election

JAKARTA - Member of the General Election Commission (KPU) August Mellaz said that all forms of the campaign have been regulated in the KPU Regulation (PKPU), including President Prabowo Subianto's support for the candidate for governor (cagub) of Central Java (Central Java) Ahmad Luthfi.

"When it comes to the rules at the PKPU campaign, both the legislative, presidential, and regional elections, everything has been regulated," Mellaz told reporters in the 2024 Pilkada press tour in Batu, East Java, Sunday, November 10.

He said the KPU was more responsible for providing campaign facilities for the implementation of the 2024 Pilkada. The goal is to optimize the movement space for pilkada participants, supporting parties, and supporting parties in conveying programs and visions and missions.

Mellaz emphasized that the KPU did not have an opinion in dealing with the ongoing issues during the regional election process, both at the national, provincial, and district/city levels, such as Prabowo's support for Ahmad Luthfi. The role of the KPU as a national institution is to prepare a regulatory device for the Pilkada campaign.

Meanwhile, monitoring the implementation of elections is not the responsibility of the KPU, but the General Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu). Therefore, Bawaslu will be tasked with examining if there are allegations of election violations. Later of course it will be reviewed by other institutions, in this case Bawaslu," he explained.

For information, the rules regarding campaigns carried out by state officials are listed in the Regulation of the General Election Commission (PKPU) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 15 of 2023 concerning General Election Campaigns.

The President and Vice President have the right to carry out campaigns. Likewise with state officials who are members of political parties (political parties) or not members of political parties.
