President Departs To NTT To Ensure Disaster Management Goes Well

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo traveled to East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT) for a working visit while ensuring the handling of disaster impacts went well.

As reported by Antara, Friday, April 9, using the Indonesian Presidential Plane-1, the President and his entourage took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, Friday, around 06.00 WIB and were scheduled to land at Frans Seda Airport, Sikka Regency, NTT.

The President plans to review several disaster sites in the province.

Previously President Joko Widodo has ordered his ranks to send food aid to disaster-affected areas in NTT since Monday, April 5.

TNI troops were deployed to transport and distribute the President's assistance, where on Tuesday, April 6, the First Phase of the President's assistance of 5,000 packages of food was successfully dispatched, some were transported using the Air Force Hercules and the rest by Navy Warships to the disaster area.

A total of 3,500 packages of food have arrived in Adonara and Lembata. Direct assistance is distributed to residents affected by the disaster.

A total of 10,000 food assistance of the next President is immediately proposed to wait for the readiness of transportation equipment.

In addition to NTT, the President also sent 13,000 packages of food aid to disaster-affected areas in Bima Regency, NTB Province.

Kupang city and 21 districts in NTT Province were hit by several disasters due to tropical cyclone Seroja from April 2 to 5, 2021.

NTT Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat has established emergency response status from April 6 to May 5, 2021.

Also accompanying the President on the flight to NTT Province were Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Head of Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono, Military Secretary of President Marsda TNI M. Tonny Harjono, Commander of Presidential Security Force Maj. Gen. Agus Subiyanto, and Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media secretariat of President Bey Machmudin.
