The Italian Football Federation Hopes Serie A Returns On May 20

JAKARTA - Gabriele Gravina, president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), revealed that one of the options being studied in Italy is to continue Serie A on May 20.

Football in Italy was suspended in early March after the country was hit by the COVID-19 or coronavirus outbreak.

"Nobody can make predictions during this health emergency," said Gravina, launching MARCA, Thursday, April 2.

"This is a unique emergency that has affected all sectors. But once this outbreak is over we have to get up and football think about how to restart the competition."

Gravina continued, their main priority is to finish the league. But in fact, they must be under lockdown until April 18.

"The hypothesis is to restart on May 20 or, as the last option, in early June, and finish in July.

There are already talks of finishing the season in August and September, said Gravina, but he doesn't want to risk destroying another season to save this season.

"Today, no one can make predictions, but we have to plan for the future," he concluded.
