Accompanying Prabowo, Minister Of KKP Signs Fisheries Cooperation With China
JAKARTA - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono strengthened the cooperation between the fisheries sector and China. This was done by Trenggono when accompanying President Prabowo Subianto's state visit to the country.
The Minister of KKP signed a technical cooperation guidelines (Technical Cooperation Guidelines/TCG) with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, Han Jun, in Beijing, China on Saturday, November 9 afternoon local time.
The signing process was witnessed directly by President Prabowo and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the state meeting.
The signing of the TCG is part of the Implementing Arrangement which was previously signed by both parties in early September last year. The signing also strengthens continued fisheries cooperation between the two countries.
"Chingkok is a strategic partner in cooperation and is included in the top five Indonesian fisheries markets. With the signing of this TCG, two countries' fisheries cooperation can strengthen our fisheries sector," Trenggono said based on a written statement, Sunday, November 10, which was confiscated by Antara.
TCG covers 12 parts of the regulation of cooperation between Indonesia and China, including the joint venture, ships to fishing quotas. Meanwhile, the scope of cooperation that will be carried out includes the field of capture fisheries and processing of fishery products in accordance with legal provisions in Indonesia.
It also includes agreements related to the construction of fishery facilities on land, including fishing ports, exchange of skills, training, and relevant data related to the fisheries sector.
"As well as collaboration to ensure the fulfillment of the welfare of fishery workers and improve the welfare of the community around fishing areas by increasing the downstream sector of fishery products," he explained.

In implementing both parties, they are committed to carrying out strict and continuous supervision and evaluation so that fish and environmental resources are well maintained and prevent illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing activities (IUU Fishing).
"ThisTCG is part of the RI-RRT cooperation relationship in the fisheries sector," said Trenggono.
The Minister of KKP added that TCG is a strategic agreement to build food security and can be an opportunity to increase state revenue for the welfare of fishing communities.
Minister Trenggono visited China to accompany President Prabowo on a number of state agendas. Among them were President Prabowo's bilateral meeting with Chairman of the National People's Congress Committee Zhao Leji, Prime Minister Li Qiang and President Xi Jinping.
