South Tangerang Mayor Benjamin Promises 'Gas Pol' About MRT Discourse In South Tangerang

TANGERANG - The candidate for Mayor of South Tangerang (Tangsel), Benyamin Davnie, said he would follow up on the discourse of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) which passed the track in South Tangerang.

He said this when meeting with Laskar Anggrek volunteers in the Serpong area, South Tangerang (Tangsel), on Saturday, November 9, 2024.

He added that he had offered several routes to the MRT in the South Tangerang region.

"We have driven the route selection to PT MRT so that later it will be chosen. (Regarding, ed.) what kind of technical section, he will look for investors, later PT MRT will look for it," said Benjamin.

He ensured that he would take concrete and quick steps so that the people of South Tangerang could enjoy the modern transportation service.

"Yes, yes, please (we are gas discussing MRT-ed.). We will continue the conversation again," he said.

Benjamin also said that he had coordinated with the MRT regarding the planning for the construction of the transportation route in his area.

He hopes that this MRT project will have no problems so that it can run smoothly regarding the planning.

"I have collaborated with PT MRT to manage MRT in Jakarta. Hopefully, it can be continued directly in South Tangerang," he said.

Previously, the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) of the Ministry of Transportation had made a study of the Jakarta MRT route through South Tangerang.

The extension will start from the last station of MRT Jakarta in Lebak Bulus to Pondok Cabe, South Tangerang.

President Director of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), Tuhiyat, said the opportunity to connect the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) transportation mode to the South Tangerang (Tangsel) area was very open.

However, he said the success of the project also needed readiness from the South Tangerang City Government and the Banten Provincial Government.

The problem is, the budget for the MRT development project to the region comes from the Regional Government budget.

"Because the budget is from the local government," said Tuhiyat.
