Deputy Governor Candidate Suswono: Housing Rights of Bayam Village Residents Must Be Fulfilled

JAKARTA - Jakarta deputy gubernatorial candidate number 1 Suswono said that the right to housing for residents living in Bayam Flat Village, North Jakarta must be fulfilled.

"The rights of residents to live in Bayam Flat Village must be fulfilled immediately according to the agreement that has been made. The issues of licensing, tariffs, and management need to be resolved wisely, prioritizing justice and siding with the community," he said in a written statement reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 9.

Suswono expressed his concern over this situation. He emphasized that the relocated residents of Bayam Village have the right to return to occupy Bayam Flat Village according to the initial agreement made with Governor Anies Baswedan.

"This right is not only about ownership of a place to live, but also the basic needs for families to have a residence that is close to where they earn a living, in order to make their daily lives easier," he said.

Suswono emphasized that housing in Bayam Flat Village must be prioritized for native residents of Bayam Village who are directly affected by the construction of JIS. He also called for transparency in determining the recipients of the housing so that it is not given to those who are not entitled.

"We encourage the government to continue to provide fair solutions for all parties, including the provision of housing in alternative locations for those who really need it," he said.

As part of his commitment to equitable development of Jakarta, Suswono will instruct the PKS Faction in the DKI Jakarta DPRD to immediately review the policy related to Bayam Village.

This step aims to fight for the rights of residents from now on, without waiting until he and Ridwan Kamil officially serve as Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta.

"We are sure that there will be the best solution for the residents of Bayam Village. The principles that I hold are justice, siding with the community, objectivity, and remaining in accordance with regulations in decision-making. It is the government's obligation to help resolve this problem immediately," he said.

To ensure justice, Suswono also said that his party would further investigate the obstacles faced by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and Jakpro.

The Minister of Agriculture for the 2009-2014 period made a direct visit to Bayam Village to meet and hold a dialogue with residents affected by the relocation due to the construction of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).

Suswono heard firsthand the aspirations and complaints of the community who are still waiting for certainty regarding their housing rights in Bayam Flat Village, and emphasized the importance of immediately resolving the obstacles faced by affected residents.
