KPK Hopes Yusril Encourages DPR To Ratify Asset Confiscation Bill

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) hopes that the ratification of the Asset Confiscation Bill in the Indonesian House of Representatives will be implemented more quickly. Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections (Menko Kumham Imipas) Yusril Ihza Mahendra is believed to be a driver.

This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika in response to a closed meeting between the leaders of the anti-corruption commission and Yusril which was held on Thursday, November 7. There were a number of discussions in the activity, including the issue of the Asset Confiscation Bill.

"Of course, as part of the executive for Coordinating Minister for Kumham Imipas, Mr. Yusril, we appreciate it and hope that it can become a booster in friends or friends in the DPR to be able to speed up the process. So we appreciate it," said Tessa to reporters, Friday, November 8.

Tessa said the KPK always conveyed the importance of the Asset Confiscation and Currency Restriction Bill. Therefore, the two regulations are expected to be a priority.

"KPK encourages the discussion of the Asset Confiscation Bill, including this limitation of cash to be a priority for discussion in the DPR," said the spokesman with the investigator's background.

As previously reported, Coordinating Minister for Kumham Imipas Yusril Ihza Mahendra held a closed meeting with the Temporary Chairperson of the KPK Nawawi Pomolango and the Deputy Chairpersons of the KPK Nurul Ghufron and Johanis Tanak on Thursday, November 7 yesterday. A number of discussions were held at the meeting, including the issue of the Asset Confiscation Bill.

Nawawi is said to have asked the government Prabowo Subianto's attitude towards the regulation. Responding to this, Yusril said that the withdrawal of the draft law proposed during the leadership of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) would not be carried out.

It's just that, after studying this law, it is a novelty.

"So far, we only know the confiscation in the process of investigation and confiscation of property or evidence as outlined in the court's decision," said Yusril as quoted from a written statement, Friday, November 8.

In the future, the formulation of this law must be carried out carefully and do not violate human rights. Experts and the public, said Yusril, could later participate in providing input in public hearings (RDPU) at the DPR RI.
