Had Flooded, Acting Governor Of DKI Found Fiber Optic Cables For Waterways In South Jakarta

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Teguh Setyabudi checked the waterways along Jalan Adityawarman and Jalan Tirtayasa, South Jakarta. This area was flooded due to heavy rains a few days ago.

When he saw the condition of the water channel which was also being repaired, Teguh found a narrowing of the width of the water channel which was also part of the underground cable ducting.

This fiber optic cable located in the area of the arrangement of the integrated utility network (SJUT) is considered not to be neatly arranged. In fact, there is a narrowing of the channel from 2 meters wide and 1 meter long along the channel. Teguh assessed that this caused the canal to be clogged and caused flooding when it rained.

"We saw earlier, how the cable also caused the garbage to pile up so much. We saw that when it rained it was extraordinary, it would eventually spill again," said Teguh, Friday, November 8.

Teguh said that he would evaluate the arrangement of water channels in conjunction with SJUT to his subordinates and telecommunications network companies including PLN. According to him, the SJUT cable cannot be placed in an area with a water channel.

"We saw earlier, for example, a ditch, the contents were many cables, the contents of which were in the SJUT, right. Well, this might be our concern, yes, in the future how to manage it," explained Teguh.

"But we also can't just cut the cable, or the one in the SJUT in the ditch, because it might be fiber optic, yes, on the internet and so on. But of course we have to do it, say heating, but we must certainly also invite, say the operators of the transmission of the cable," he added.

On the one hand, Teguh emphasized that efforts to overcome flooding in Jakarta cannot be carried out partially, but must be comprehensive, integrated, and systematic. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will continue to coordinate with the central government to carry out flood mitigation in Jakarta.

"Regarding authority, we will also discuss it together with the Ministry of Public Works (PU), because there is some authority to handle flooding under the coordination of the Ministry of Public Works," he added.
