Europa League: Maccabi Supporter Tel Aviv Clashes With Pro-Palestinian Demonstrators
JAKARTA - Israeli club supporter Maccabi Tel Aviv clashed with pro-Palestinian demonstrators before and after the Europa League match against Ajax Amsterdam outside Johan Cruyff Arena, Amsterdam, on Friday, November 8, 2024, early morning WIB.
The clashes reportedly occurred despite a pro-Palestinian demonstration ban imposed by Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema.
Femke Halsema had previously socialized the ban given its concerns about clashes between demonstrators and supporters of the Israeli club.
The details of the incident are still unclear. However, Israeli media reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called his Dutch counterpart to talk about it.
Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, also condemned the violence in a post on social media X.
