AHY Meets US Ambassador, Discusses Potential Cooperation In Infrastructure To IKN

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) discussed the potential for strategic cooperation in the infrastructure sector with the United States (US).

This was conveyed in front of the American Ambassador to Indonesia Kamala Shirin Lakhdir, Monday, November 4, 2024.

During the meeting, it was also discussed about the continuation of the Nusantara Capital (IKN) development cooperation.

"We discuss various potentials and opportunities for strategic cooperation between Indonesia and the United States. We also discuss several action programs that touch the community, especially regarding access to clean water, sanitation and education as well as other potential collaborations that can improve the quality and capacity of our infrastructure development in the future," AHY said in his official statement, quoted Friday, November 8.

AHY added, according to President Prabowo Subianto's direction as stated in Asta Cita, infrastructure development aims to encourage economic growth of up to 8 percent.

Thus, the massive development is expected to contribute to equitable development, poverty alleviation and increasing the welfare of the Indonesian people.

He also emphasized that this is a valuable moment, considering that the country's sub-district head will commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the United States.

So, AHY hopes that there will be various strategic cooperation that will be established in the future.

Responding to this, the US Ambassador to Indonesia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir said the United States was proud to have supported sustainable infrastructure development throughout Indonesia, including smart city innovation in IKN.

Kamala hopes that this collaboration can encourage Indonesia to achieve Indonesia's economic goals. One of them is reaching Indonesia's gold by 2045.

"Achieving Indonesia's ambitious economic goals depends on creating a more friendly and open investment climate in the investment climate. I hope to work together, build strong bilateral relations, to continue to promote inclusive and sustainable economic development in Indonesia," he concluded.
