JAKARTA - Investigators of the Protection of Women and Children (PPA) Resort Police Satreskrim (Polres) Jember, East Java, examined the lecturers of the University of Jember who allegedly sexually abused minors who were also his own nephews.

According to him, there are five witnesses who are examined in the case of reports of abuse of minors, namely whistleblowers, reported who are now still witnesses, and three other witnesses who are suspected of knowing the case.
"Two pieces of evidence related to the alleged case have been assessed sufficiently, but we have not been able to ascertain whether the status was upgraded to the investigation or not because it will still delve into the news of the existing examination event (BAP)," he said.
After the examination of the five witnesses, PPA Jember Police will conduct a case of sexual abuse conducted by unej lecturers against minors to determine whether the reported witness can be a suspect.
"In the case of fornication, the threat of imprisonment is a maximum of 15 years for violating article 82 paragraph 2 jo article 76e of Law No. 17 of 2016 on the Determination of Regulation No. 1 of 2016 on the Second Amendment of Law No. 23 of 2002 on Child Protection into Law," he said.
While the victim's legal representative from LBH Jentera, Yamini said it expects police officers to act quickly in investigating cases of fornication conducted by unej lecturers.
"The victims are children because they are 16 years old, so we expect police investigators to implement Law No. 35 of 2014 on Child Protection with a minimum threat of 5 years and a maximum of 15 years in prison," he said.
Previously, a lecturer unej reported to jember police for allegedly sexually abusing his nephew who lived in a house under the pretext of doing breast cancer therapy.
