Pirlo Confirms Szczęsny's Position Is Safe Despite Not Playing In Juventus Vs Napoli Match
JAKARTA - Coach Andrea Pirlo made sure goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny did not lose his place under the posts despite not playing as Juventus beat Napoli 2-1 in an Italian League postponed match on Wednesday, April 7. He just needs a break.
In a pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Pirlo claimed Szczęsny would be the starter against Napoli. But as it turned out, it was Gianluigi Buffon who performed.
"This is something I have prepared," Pirlo said after the game, reported from Italian Football. "There was criticism of Szczesny after the last game and I said he would keep playing.""
"However, I've spoken to him, he's tired after playing a lot of games, with his national team as well. He needs a break to start over. He remains the starter of Juventus."
Meanwhile, Napoli are still keeping their mouths shut to the media following the defeat by Juventus. However, President Aurelio De Laurentiis opened the voice on social media.
Partenopei fell through goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala although Lorenzo Insigne scored through a white spot in Giornata 3 Serie A.
So far, the naples club still prohibits all players and staff from speaking to the media. However, De Laurentiis released a comment on Twitter.
"Well done, boys. We went with our heads held high and above all I enjoyed the game until the end... Good job everyone!" he tweeted.
Bravi ragazzi. Ne siamo usciti a testa alta e soprattutto mi sono divertito fino alla fine... bravi tutti! #ADL
