Bayern Munich Supporter's Death Overshadows Victory In Champions League
Bayern Munich mourns the death of a fan who attended the team's 1-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League on Thursday, November 7, 2024, early morning WIB.
The Bavarian club said on Thursday morning that it received news that the fans had died while being taken to hospital.
Bayern Munich supporters did not sing or cheer during the match as a form of respect for the person.
The atmosphere at Allanz Arena seemed quiet a few minutes after the kick-off when it became clear that there was an emergency that required attention from paramedics and police officers.

"Life is more important than exercise. We pray for family and friends to be given a lot of strength," the support group said in a statement.

Bayern supporters did not continue the cheers after the person was taken off the tribune block on a stretcher after about half an hour.
"The medical emergency situation in the Allianz Arena stands overshadowed the match from the start. Due to careful consideration, the Sudkurve (south tribune's curve) refrained from the usual hard support for their team. The club also reduced coverage of the match."
"About an hour after the final whistle sounded, defending champions Germany received the sad news that the fan died on the way to the hospital. FC Bayern mourned the fan's family," Bayern Munich said in a statement.
Bayern Munich narrowly won 1-0 over Benfica's guest in the fourth match of the Champions League. The only goal was scored through Jamal Musiala's header in the 67th minute starting with Harry Kane's action.
The result was enough for Bayern Munich to end his two consecutive defeats and claim his second win in the Champions League.
Bayern Munich fans cheered and celebrated the goal, but the atmosphere remained calm for the remainder of the game.
"We didn't know about it during the game, we only found out right after the game. We wish the family a strong and good luck, we think about everything involved," said Bayern Munich midfielder Konrad Laimer.
