Extreme Weather, Natural Disaster Emergency Alert Status In West Java Lasts Until April 2025

BANDUNG - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin revealed that the status of the emergency for natural disasters in West Java (West Java) will be extended until April 2025. The decision was taken after the prediction of extreme weather that would continue to occur.

"We have implemented this extreme weather situation since October 2024. Its status will continue until April 2025," Bey said in his statement, Wednesday, November 6.

Bey added that the disasters that occurred in a number of areas in West Java, including Sukabumi, had a fairly heavy impact on the local community.

"We remind you to be careful. According to BMKG estimates, high-intensity rain will peak between the end of November and February. Once again, we ask the public to remain vigilant," he said.

One of the factors causing the flood disaster that occurred was the high intensity of rain. This is exacerbated by the large amount of garbage that clogs the waterways.

"If we pay attention, there is a lot of garbage in the river. It shows the habit of people littering. We also apologize, because many violate the river border lines," explained Bey.

Based on the latest data from the Sukabumi City BPBD, there were 93 locations affected by the disaster. The number of refugees was recorded at 65, which previously reached 118 people.
