Prabowo Bans State Institutions From Being Backed For Online Gambling
President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that law enforcement institutions and institutions should not provide support or backing to parties involved in online gambling activities. He also emphasized the importance of fighting these crimes in order to protect the public.
This message was conveyed by the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid, who quoted President Prabowo's direction at the plenary cabinet meeting at the Presidential Office, Wednesday, November 6.
"Earlier, it was stated that several institutions or institutions, such as the National Police, the Attorney General's Office, and the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, as well as all other institutions must work together. There should be no backing-backing, no one should support or assist online gambling activities," said Meutya.
Meutya explained that Prabowo asked all ministries and institutions to unite in fighting online gambling, considering that many victims of this activity came from underprivileged communities. Prabowo emphasized that there should be no collusion between institutions and individuals involved in online gambling crimes.
"To work together, unite, to fight online gambling," said Meutya, quoting Prabowo's words.
In addition, President Prabowo emphasized that efforts to fight online gambling also aim to increase Indonesia's purchasing power and economic growth. By suppressing gambling activities, people can avoid a negative economic impact that is detrimental.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemenkomdigi) also continues to support the investigation of employees suspected of abusing their authority by not blocking online gambling sites. However, Meutya admitted that her party had not been able to carry out a thorough audit or change of the technology system because it was still in the surveillance and investigation stage by the Police.
"We have not been able to improve the system massively because it is currently still in the process of being investigated. So, please be patient. Every new name given by the police is immediately deactivated," explained Meutya.
