President Abbas Believes Donald Trump Will Support The Aspirations Of The Palestinian People
JAKARTA - President Mahmoud Abbas believes Donald Trump will support the aspirations of the Palestinian people when he congratulates the Republican politician in the 2024 United States Presidential Election.
In the cable of his congratulations, President Abbas expressed his aspiration to cooperate with President Trump for peace and security in the region, emphasizing the Palestinian people's commitment to pursuing freedom, determining their own destiny and statehood, in accordance with international law.
"We will remain steadfast in our commitment to peace, and we are confident that the United States will support, under your leadership, the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people," he said.
Trump, who is paired with JD Vance, is projected to beat Kamala Harris who is paired with Republican Walz Team, quoted by Reuters.
Trump is predicted to have more than 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency, out of a total of 538 electoral votes up for grabs across 50 states and the District of Columbia.
As of Wednesday 6.30 am ET, Trump outperformed Harris according to a number of calculations regarding the vote acquisition in the 2024 US Presidential Election.
ABC News put Trump ahead with 279 electoral votes over Harris who won 223 electoral votes.

Meanwhile, militant groups Hamas said they would assess Trump's presidency based on its "position and actions against the Palestinian people," followed by The Times of Israel.
In a statement, Hamas said the upcoming US President should "shut up the voices voiced by Americans for more than a year against the Zionist aggression in the Gaza Strip" and "American side with the Zionist entity."
Hamas said that since the founding of the State of Israel in 1948, the US has consistently supported Israel over Palestine, condemning the Joe Biden Administration, which will end soon because it provides "political and military protection to Israel in the war of genocide."
