Real Madrid Must Be Worried After Losing To Milan

JAKARTA - Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said his troops must be worried after losing 1-3 to AC Milan at the Santiago Bernabeu in the fourth match of the Champions League, Wednesday, November 6, 2024, early morning WIB.

The negative result was Los Blancos' second consecutive defeat after losing 4-0 at El Clasico against Barcelona on 27 October 2024.

"We have to worry because the team didn't play well. We have to be more solid, more compact. We have conceded a lot of goals," Ancelotti told Movistar.

The defeat left Real Madrid thrown into the middle of the Champions League, to be precise in the 17th position with a collection of six points from four matches.

While in La Liga this season, Real Madrid are in second place behind nine points from leaders Barcelona.

The most striking problem is conceding. Real Madrid have conceded nine goals in three consecutive games in all competitions.

"It's not a matter of patience or not, the reality you see on the pitch is that we lost something."

"Worry at times like this is natural. It's going to be a long night, but that's what we have to do, think, all of us, about improving things."

"We conceded nine goals (in three games). That's too much for the team to build their strength with solidity," Ancelotti told a news conference after his match.

Ancelotti further emphasized that the attacks of the team fronted by Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior were not the problem.

He also denied that the atmosphere in Los Blancos' dressing room had deteriorated this season, since the arrival of the Mbappe star in the summer.

"We have a lot of chances. The problem for me is not that (attack). Maybe we are less clinical, but the main problem we have to fix is how easy it is to fight to create chances."

"When you're not solid, you have to be more organized. You can't say my players are lazy, but right now we can't work together effectively."

"No, the dressing room is healthy. There will be a lot of criticism, about our attitude, training. What critics think, we have to accept."

"We didn't play well. We wanted to play better. Like this, it's hard to get to the end of the season."

"Every year, there are difficult times where you have to fight, fight, think. What's not normal is that this team has a good performance and has fallen so fast."

"It's part of football. When you think everything is perfect, you fall, but the good thing about football is that you can react," said the Italian coach.

Malick Thiaw's header put Milan 1-0 up before Vinicius Junior equalized with a penalty.

Alvaro Morata then made the score 2-1 for Milan before halftime.

Real Madrid, who tried to equalize, returned to a mistake through Tijani Reijnders. He widened Milan's advantage through counter-attacks.

Los Blancos have now lost two defeats in four Champions League games.

Next, they are set to rise to stop the two latest series of bad results. Real Madrid will host Osasuna in La Liga on Saturday, November 9, 2024, before the international break.

Meanwhile, the next Champions League match will take place at Liverpool headquarters on November 27, 2024.
