Bulog Will Carry Out Institutional Transformation, Being Directly Under The President
JAKARTA - The Public Company of the Logistics Affairs Agency (Perum Bulog) is rumored to be carrying out institutional transformations. Later, Bulog will be under and directly responsible to the president.
President Director of Perum Bulog Wahyu Suparyono explained that with this institutional transformation, Bulog no longer has the status of a state-owned enterprise (BUMN). As for now, Bulog is under the Ministry of SOEs.
"We will Bulog later become a government institution, under the president. No (of BUMN status)," he told reporters written Wednesday, November 6.
Wahyu admitted that Prabowo had asked him to prepare for the transformation, while waiting for the issuance of a Presidential Decree (Keppres).
In addition, Wahyu also firmly denied that his agency would move under the praise of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).
"I have no orders (under the Ministry of Agriculture). I was ordered by the president to prepare for institutional transformation," he said.
For your information, referring to Government Regulation (PP) Number 13 of 2016 concerning Bulog Public Companies (Perum), Perum Bulog which is then called a company is a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) as regulated in Law Number 19 of 2003 concerning BUMN.
Before becoming a business entity, Bulog was first formed based on Cabinet Presidium Decree Number 114/U/KEP/5/1967 on May 10, 1967 under the name Bulog Non-Institutional Government (LPND).
The purpose of establishing the institution is to secure food supply and price stabilization in order to uphold the existence of a new government.
After making a number of changes, in 2000 the government pushed Bulog towards a form of business entities to begin to be seen with the issuance of Presidential Decree No. 29 of 2000.
On September 13, 2001, through Presidential Decree No. 103 as Bulog LPDN was under and directly responsible to the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
Then, on January 20, 2003, the Bulog LPDN changed its status to a general company (Perum) Bulog. Furthermore, the institution is called Perum Bulog.
