JAKARTA - Police deployed a forensic laboratory team to search for the cause of the fire at Pertamina Balongan Refinery, Indramayu Regency, West Java.
The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Komjen Agus Andrianto called the search efforts for the cause of the fire by conducting a crime scene.
"The crime scene is being processed by the forensic laboratory", Komjen Agus told reporters on Thursday, April 8.
However, Agus did not explain the provisional results of the police team's findings. Investigations are still ongoing.
Komjen Agus said he had examined 52 people in the incident. Checks were carried out to find the cause of the fire.
"There have been 52 people who have done clarification and also examination", he said.
Meanwhile, West Java Police Chief Irjen Ahmad Dofiri said there are reports of an indication of a leak in the oil tanker pipeline.
"We were informed earlier that there was a break-in or leak in the tank pipe that caught fire", he said
The leak, according to him, allegedly triggered the burning of an oil tank at the RU VI Balongan oil refinery.
"I guess as a result of that, but this is preliminary information because last night there was a pretty big lightning bolt as well. But this is preliminary information, the rest later", he said.
