Ruben's First Test Was Successful, But Did Not Want To Increase Victory Over Manchester City
Ruben Amoram faced Manchester City before officially serving at Manchester United on November 11, 2024.
While leading Sporting CP to host The Citizens in the fourth match of the Champions League, Wednesday, November 6, 2024, Amorim successfully won 4-1 at Jose Alvalade, Lisbon.
The victory not only made Manchester United's expectations big on the atmosphere, but also a sweet farewell gift for Sporting in his last party at home.
Ruben Amorim has made Sporting very strong earlier this season with 16 consecutive wins in all competitions.
The problem is, it's just the expectations of the Red Devils. You see, the match against The Citizens became a moment for Manchester United and supporters to test the feasibility of the atmosphere before moving to Old Trafford.
After the match, the 39-year-old coach tried not to make the victory over Manchester City a matter of consideration regarding expectations.
Amoritam menegaskan bahwa ia belum seperti level dengan Manajer Manchester City, Pep Guardiola.
This was warned of before facing The Citizens. He revealed that Manchester United supporters should not think that Sir Alex Ferguson had just arrived if Amorim managed to beat Manchester City.
As it is known, Ferguson is considered one of the greatest football managers after a trophy-studded period at Old Trafford from 1986 to 2013.
Manchester United supporters think they end up having a coach who can bring back the good times to the club that have lost their way since Ferguson's departure more than a decade ago.
"It was written because the first half was very difficult for us. We were very lucky, but in the second half we scored two goals in the early minutes. The environment, everyone, helped us. It was an amazing night."
"He (Guardiola) is much better than me at the moment. However, I strongly believe in my new club. We will start at a low level. We will improve the club," Amorim said after the match.
Apart from that, Sporting supporters unfurled a large banner before the match began with the message "Obrigado (thank you) Ruben Amorim".
His move to Old Trafford was delayed. Amorim can complete his commitment with Sporting, which includes a match against Manchester City and ends with a trip to Braga on Sunday, November 10, 2024 local time.
Ruben Amorim made Manchester City end the record 26 unbeaten matches in the Champions League.
Sporting also saw the Citizens champions experience a third successive defeat in all events that have not occurred since the last time in April 2018.
